Craig Lane dominated the first ever US OPEN Outdoor Racquetball Championships presented by Pro Kennex and World Outdoor Racquetball.
Lane did so by claiming the Pro Singles title and the Pro Doubles title with partner Greg Solis. The event was held October 19-21, 2007 in Ft. Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Florida at the beautiful CB Smith Park.
Tournament Director Angel Calderon had plenty of help from locals as he put on a first class event with exceptional hospitality for the sports best outdoor racquetball players from across the world.
Despite the scattering rain storms throughout the weekend, nearly 100 players battled the humidity and each other for the chance to be crowned Outdoor US OPEN Champion in singles, doubles and junior divisions.
Saturday found alot of matches delayed because of the severe rain as volunteers and tournament staff were left with the task of drying courts so that players could finish the event on Sunday.
As the event concluded Angel Calderon thanked all of the sponsors, volunteers and players along with Vic Leibofsky and Patty Weaver for their tireless efforts.
The weather was a true challenge but there was also a friendly battle between California and Florida since these two states seem to have more outdoor courts than most states.
